All private cars in Hong Kong that are six years old or above must be submitted to a designated vehicle testing center for inspection every year before license renewal to ensure that the vehicle complies with the Road Traffic Regulations (Chapter 374) before license renewal. Car owners do not need to wait until the license plate expires. They can inspect and renew their vehicle 4 months before the driving license expires. At that time, customers must bring their vehicle registration documents (license book) in person to use the service. Services include comprehensive pre-inspection (Pre-MOT) before government vehicle inspection, inspection at a government-designated vehicle inspection center and government vehicle inspection fee of $585.
